On September 17 at 19:10 on the Disney Channel there will be a premiere of the animated series “City of Heroes: A New Story” about the adventures of the young inventor Hiro, the robot Baymax and their friends. This project is a continuation of the Oscar-winning feature-length animated film.

The action of the new animated series takes place immediately after the events of the full-length film “City of Heroes”. Very little time has passed since the young superheroes defeated the insidious villain Yokai and, as it seemed to them, lost Baymax forever. Hiro entered the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, where his older brother Tadashi studied.
There he accidentally ended up in Tadashi's laboratory and found Baymax's microchip, which allowed the young inventor to restore the robot. Together with their best friends - the fearless Go Go Tomago, the pedantic Wasabi, the resourceful Honey Lemon and the resilient Fred - Hiro and Baymax once again became a team of superheroes to continue to protect their hometown from the machinations of insidious villains.
As in the full-length animated film “City of Heroes,” the animated series pays great attention to modern technologies and their application in everyday life. For example, Hiro prints Baymax's armor on a 3D printer, at some lectures at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, students sit in virtual reality glasses, and special robots are responsible for cleaning the cafeteria.
The characters of the animated series will show young viewers by their example how exciting physics, chemistry and computer science can be, and what incredible opportunities knowledge of these subjects opens up.
The new series' animation style is inspired by Japanese painting techniques as well as classic Disney films, including 101 Dalmatians. “We settled on traditional hand-drawn animation because we wanted to create a new world and style for our project. We wanted the audience, on the one hand, to recognize their favorite characters from the full-length cartoon, and on the other, to understand that a completely new story awaits them,” says the project’s executive producer, Nicholas Filippi.

“WE ARE CLOSE TO BECOME A CULTURAL CENTER OF RUSSIA”

Today the composition of the Kazan Opera participants who will take part in the gala concert of the Universiade Festival of Festivals on July 17, the closing day of the World Games, was determined. As the BUSINESS Online newspaper learned, these will be bass Mikhail Kazakov, soloist Albina Shagimuratova and chief conductor of the opera house Renat Salavatov.

This year, as in the past, among the festival participants. Chaliapin was in Kazan Valery Gergiev, which on February 16 presented to Kazan residents one of the last premieres of the Mariinsky Theater - the opera Jules Massenet"Don Quixote". The maestro was in Kazan for only one day, but managed to meet with the mayor of the capital of Tatarstan Ilsur Metshin with whom he and the director of the opera house Raufal Mukhametzyanov discussed the cultural program of the Universiade.

Last year, Georgiev and Mukhametzyanov decided that on one of the days of the sports forum, the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra would give a gala concert in Kazan. During this visit, the maestro had an idea: why not show it to the whole world? Metshin developed the idea and proposed broadcasting not only the Mariinsky concert, but also the Kazan Opera program. So it was decided. The gala concert will take place on July 17, the day the Universiade ends, and will be broadcast on one of the most popular TV channels promoting classical music - Mezzo.

But not only the orchestra and soloists of the Mariinsky Theater will take part in the concert. A large block is given to the soloists of the Kazan Opera - these are world-class “stars” Shagimuratova and Kazakov. In addition to Kazan, they perform at the most prestigious venues in the world - from La Scala to the Metropolitan Opera. In addition to the soloists, some of the numbers in the concert will be conducted by Salavatov, the chief conductor of the TGAT Opera and Ballet named after. Jalil.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called Kazan “the sports center of our country,” this is true, but such a broadcast also shows that we are close to becoming the cultural center of Russia. The Mezzo TV channel is one of the most respected in the world, it is watched by everyone who is involved in classical music and gives preference to it. And if he showed interest in our work, interest in the city where Fyodor Chaliapin was born, where two international festivals are held - an opera festival named after this great bass and a ballet festival named after Rudolf Nureyev - this is an unconditional success, - he commented on the situation with the broadcast to the BUSINESS Online correspondent director of the opera theater Mukhametzyanov.

THERE WILL BE 9 CAMERAS FILMING

The Telmondis company will directly handle the broadcast. It was founded in 1972 and is one of the largest French producers of audiovisual products through the broadcast of “live” performances of the highest level - opera, ballet, world-famous circus and music shows, classical and modern dance, jazz, classical music.

Since 2004, Telmondis has been a permanent partner of the largest television channels in France (France Televisions, Arte France, Mezzo, Gulli, Paris Premiere), as well as international television channels ARTV (Canada), NHK (Japan), ZDF (Germany), RAI 3 (Italy) , SIC (Portugal), RTBF (Belgium), KRO (Netherlands), CFI (France, focused on the Mediterranean countries, the Balkans, the Caucasus, Asia), A1 Jazeera Children Channel (Qatar), MDR (Germany), 2M (Morocco) and other.

The total target audience of Telmondis is more than 150 million people around the world. The company cooperates with the Grand Opera, the Zurich Opera, the Royal Brussels Opera House, the Lyon National Opera, the Parisian Phoenix Cirque and others. Of the Russian theaters, the Mariinsky and Bolshoi theaters received her attention.

As for the broadcast itself, it is worth clarifying that Mezzo is a French TV channel dedicated to classical music, opera, ballet, jazz and ethnic music. The channel was founded in 1992 under the name France Supervision. In 1998 it received its current name. In 2001, it was decided to merge the Mezzo and Muzzik channels; in April 2002, the channels merged.

Since 2003, the channel's slogan has been Écouter, Voir, Oser ( fr. - listen, watch, dare). The channel's program includes recordings and broadcasts of concerts of classical, sacred, jazz, ethnic music, opera performances, classical and modern ballet, documentaries and television magazines about music and performers.

MIKHAIL PLETNEV, BORIS EIFMAN AND OTHERS

Representatives of the Telmondis company several days ago already visited in the opera house, took a plan of the auditorium and calculated the number of cameras that would be needed for broadcast. There will be 9 of them. Naturally, holding such an important concert as the gala concert of the cultural Universiade is a troublesome task, and placing 9 cameras in the hall will not be easy. But the theater will not incur any expenses, except moral ones. All settlements with the company will be handled by city and republican authorities.

“The name of Fyodor Chaliapin is familiar to classical music lovers around the world, but only a few know that the great singer was born in Kazan,” says the company’s president Antoine Perse, who had already come to Kazan, met with Metshin and held negotiations at the Town Hall. Naturally, the “Chaliapin theme” will prevail when drawing up the concert program. And here the performer of Chaliapin’s parts – bass Kazakov – will be very useful.

However, not only the memories of the great countryman and his traditions will surprise people during the Universiade in the opera theater at the Festival of Festivals. Its cultural program will open on the same day as the sports forum - July 6. It will open with the premiere of a rarely performed opera. George Gershwin“Porgy and Bess”, the opera will be presented for the first time on the stage of the Kazan Theater and will be performed in concert. The musical director of the production is a maestro from Italy Marco Boemi. The main roles, as prescribed by the composer, will be performed by African-American singers. But what to do with the choir is still being decided.

Then three more operas will be presented to the public. This is Eugene Onegin Pyotr Tchaikovsky, a classical production whose musical director was Pletnev. Today it became known that he agreed to conduct the orchestra during this performance during the Universiade. The public will also see the theater’s last two premieres – “Turandot” Giacomo Puccini in an avant-garde production Mikhail Panjavidze and a completely traditional production of “Aida” Giuseppe Verdi staged Yuri Alexandrov.

The ballet block also consists of four diverse performances, showing the entire range of directions in which the theater operates. This is a classic - “Swan Lake” by Tchaikovsky, Tatar ballet Farida Yarullina"Shurale" and two modern ballets - "Spartacus" Aram Khachaturyan and "Anyuta" Valeria Gavrilina. However, the ballet block will be strengthened by the arrival of a troupe from St. Petersburg Boris Eifman What they will bring to show to the guests of the Universiade will be decided in the coming days.

We have already determined the casts that will participate in the performances of the summer festival by selecting the best performers. At the end of April, Boemi begins rehearsals for Porgy and Bess with the theater orchestra. It was difficult to find soloists for this performance; only a few sing these parts in the world, but we nevertheless found worthy performers from New York, Miami, South Africa,” says the casting manager Anna Bagautdinova.

THERE WILL BE INTEREST IN EUROPE WATCHING OUR PERFORMANCES

Will such a broadcast be of interest to foreign viewers? Here's what BUSINESS Online experts think about this.

Alexey Stepanyuk- director of the Mariinsky Theater, professor of the St. Petersburg Conservatory:

I think this will be an interesting project; Mezzo has long formed its own specific audience of music fans who are interested in everything new. Performances and concerts of the Mariinsky Theater are periodically broadcast by foreign television channels, and this is a very good promotion for both the theater and the city. It’s a pity that the performances of our White Nights festival are not broadcast yet. Such a broadcast will not harm Kazan.

Nikolay Rybinsky– special correspondent for Radio Orpheus, author of numerous reports from festivals named after. Shalyapin and Nuriev:

Of course, the audience will watch, a guarantee of this is the performances of the Kazan opera and ballet troupe, which people go to abroad with pleasure. This means there is demand if people go and buy tickets. Therefore, they will watch such a broadcast, and they will also receive the soloists of the Mariinsky Theater and Valery Gergiev as a bonus. But I want to note that such a broadcast is not cheap.

Rashid Kalimullin– Chairman of the Union of Composers of the Republic of Tatarstan:

Mezzo is a very reputable channel; viewers already know that it broadcasts only high-quality music. I watch it all the time; recently, for example, I watched a wonderful production of La Bohème with Albina Shagimuratova in the title role. The fact that the broadcast would be carried out on such a prestigious TV channel, and not on some cheap one, was the right decision. For the prestige of our city, which hosts the Universiade, that is, the second most important sports game after the Olympics, this will be good PR.
