Crimea is considered one of the best vacation spots in Russia. Beautiful scenery combined with a fairly mild climate has been attracting people for a very long time.

Each era that captured the Crimean peninsula left its own unique imprint on it. All traces of the past are kept by the sights of Crimea. You can find a photo describing the main ones in our material. Also, an indisputable advantage of Crimea is the fact that almost all the sights that you can see there can be viewed for free. In this article, we will look at the main attractions of Crimea, tell their story and show you how to get to them.

Lighthouse Ai-Todor

This lighthouse is located in the village of Gaspra on the cape, which gave it its name. By right, this particular monument is considered important for the development of the entire Russian fleet. By order of Admiral Lazarev, a lighthouse was built here at the beginning of the nineteenth century, not far from the ancient fortress that had been destroyed by that time, which also served as a lighthouse.

Getting to Cape Ai-Todor is quite easy. A boat runs regularly from Sevastopol towards the cape. However, getting to the lighthouse is not as easy as it might seem. It is a military facility, no one will give you guided tours.

Access to the lighthouse is possible only with a special pass, which you need to stock up on in Sevastopol.

Tower of the Winds

This unique building was built in the middle of the nineteenth century in Sevastopol. It is hard to believe, but without sufficient repairs and maintenance, she was able to survive to this day. The tower largely copies the famous Athenian Tower of the Winds. Of course, the Greek tower, which was built even before our era, is much larger, but the beauty of the Crimean building is in no way inferior to its foreign relative. At the moment when the tower was built in Sevastopol, it was used to air the books from the Maritime Library.

The Tower of the Winds is located in the center of Sevastopol, on Frunze Street, 8. Visiting an architectural monument of regional significance is now free.

Bear Mountain

Surrounded by a halo of legends and secrets, Mount Ayu-Dag stands between two large cities. On the way from Yalta to Alushta or back, you will never miss a big stone bear, which lowered its muzzle into the sea. He tries to drink all the water in order to return the lovers who decided to run away from him on the water.

Bear Mountain traces its history back to very ancient times. According to various sources, it is about 150 million years old. For tourists, it may be interesting because it is here, in this unique natural area, that rare animals and plants live. Apparently, their patron is the same big bear who is trying to drink the sea.

From all the cities of the Crimean coast, the ascent to Ayu-Dag can be reached by regular buses that go to Yalta or Alushta.

Saint Constantine's Tower

In Feodosia there is a huge stone giant - the Tower of St. Constantine. Her age makes one wonder that she has not yet been destroyed to the ground. It was built in the thirteenth century, at a time when the Genoese considered themselves masters in the Crimea.

Initially, the tower was used to store weapons and was not called anything special. Later she received the name of St. Constantine. Although, he was canonized as a saint later than the tower appeared.

The tower is located between the bus station of Feodossia and Yubileyny Park. An interesting fact is that a capsule with a message to the people of the future is immured in one of the walls of the tower, which will be opened in 2017.

Golitsyn trail

In the village of Novy Svet, fans can definitely find new sensations for themselves and tickle their nerves. It is here that the famous Golitsyn trail is located - a narrow piece of rocky soil, which is located directly above the cliff. When crossing the path, you can only hold on to a frail log.

Those who can overcome the dangerous path are rewarded: they get into a wonderful grotto, which has two names. His name is Shalyapinsky, because the famous bass performed there, and Golitsynsky, like the transition, because the prince kept bottles of wine in the grotto.

The last Russian Emperor Nicholas II walked along the Golitsyn trail, the length of which exceeds five thousand meters.

cat mountain

A beautiful legend awaits those who want to visit the city of Simeiz, which is located 70 kilometers from Sevastopol. In the town there is a famous Mount Cat. It is also called "kosh-kai" or steam mountain. It is with her that the love story of a monk and a young girl is connected. The monk was able to save his beloved from the demon, which he turned into a mountain. Now the mountain is overgrown with forest and does not look like a demon or a cat, but history continues to attract tourists to it.

At the very top of the mountain there is a kind of wish tree: tourists tie ribbons to it and make wishes. They say that they will definitely come true.

If you drive along the highway from Sevastopol towards Yalta, it is impossible to miss Mount Koshka. A funny landmark is a small market where they sell sweet Crimean onions.

Valley of Ghosts

Lovers of the supernatural come to Alushta every year. After all, it is there that the famous Valley of Ghosts is located. Of course, there are no ghosts there and close, but the stones at the foot of Mount Demerdzhi at sunset cast very interesting shadows. The mountain itself can also attract tourists. At sunset, it changes color. The nature of this phenomenon is still not known, scientists do not want to solve the mystery of the Valley of Ghosts.

By the way, it is at the foot of Demerdzhi, very close to the Valley of Ghosts, that there is still a stone on which Natalya Varley sang her song about bears in the film “Prisoner of the Caucasus”.

A bus runs regularly from Alushta and Simferopol towards the village of Radiant. It is on it that you can get to Demerdzhi and the Valley of Ghosts.

Chekhov's house in Gurzuf

Crimea is ready to show its guests and cultural values. They have always been developed here on a par with natural ones. So, in Gurzuf at the turn of the last and the century before last, Anton Pavlovich Chekhov bought a house for himself. The writer wanted solitude and peace, and the noisy Yalta did not suit him at all in this regard.

Chekhov's house now has a branch of his museum on the Crimean peninsula. Anyone can come here with a tour.

An entrance ticket with the right to take photos and videos costs 200 rubles, with the right to view the garden - 50 rubles. You can get to the writer's dacha from Yalta by fixed-route taxi No. 316. You will need to get off at the final stop and take a short walk.

Vorontsov Palace

This majestic building not only served as the residence of the governor of Novorossiya, Prince Vorontsov, but from the very beginning was a hymn to English traditions in architecture. Consisting of several parts, the building is a mix of different styles and eras in architecture.

The palace complex is surrounded by a huge garden. It occupies almost 150 hectares and, like the building, is a combination of different plants.

The palace and the garden are located in Alupka, which can be reached, for example, from Simferopol, by bus that goes towards Simeiz.

Interestingly, during the Great Patriotic War, Hitler, who fancied himself a winner, managed to give the Vorontsov Palace along with the park to one of his marshals. However, he did not manage to keep the architectural masterpiece in his property for a long time.

Wine Koktebel

The village of Koktebel is well known to all lovers of poetry. It was there that Maximilian Voloshin lived and Marina Tsvetaeva often visited. However, not only lyricists know this place. The reason for this is the factory of vintage wines and cognacs, which is located in the same place.

Growing grapes in the Crimea is an old tradition that has taken root. People living in this mountainous area have always made stronger wine and drinks, so it was logical to create a large-scale production here.

Now they give excursions to the plant, they are ready to show, tell and even give a try to everyone.

Depending on the degree of immersion in the atmosphere of viticulture, the cost of the tour varies from 500 to 900 rubles per person. The plant itself is located at the entrance to Koktebel, local residents say that it is simply impossible to drive past.

Bird home

Perhaps the most famous building of the Crimean peninsula can be safely called the Swallow's Nest. This castle, made in the Gothic style fearlessly, hangs over the sea. However, this building only looks like this for a little over a hundred years. The stone palace was built only at the beginning of the twentieth century. Until that time, a wooden house stood on the site of the modern Swallow's Nest.

Immediately after construction, the palace was surrounded by a beautiful garden, but most of it was destroyed during a strong earthquake. Miraculously survived architectural monument.

The swallow's nest is located in the village of Gaspra. The best way to get to it is from Yalta, by direct buses in the direction of this village. There are also guided tours around the castle, their cost is from 300 to 600 rubles per person.

Ancient mausoleum in Bakhchisarai

On the territory of the city of Bakhchisarai there is one of the most ancient buildings in the Crimea - the mausoleum of Hadji Giray. Khan Khadzhi Giray himself is buried in it, his son who initiated the construction, as well as about twenty more of their relatives. Scientists say that the mausoleum is now more than fifty years old.

Historians constantly carry out excavations on the territory of the mausoleum. This object cannot be called a full excursion, they will only tell you about the history of the Khan's family, but if you appreciate places of power, places with bright energy, then you should definitely visit it and just touch the ancient stones.

The mausoleum is located near the hospital for the mentally ill on Basenko Street.

Volcanic mountain Ai-Petri

Ai-Petri is the place that has become a unique nature reserve. It is there that you can find various natural areas and landscapes. The mountain itself calmed down relatively recently and stopped moving. Even 100-150 years ago, she could gradually sink into or out of the sea.

Now tourists who go to Mount Ai-Petri can not only admire the beauties of nature, but also appreciate the longest cable car in Europe, which is located right here in the Crimea.

Bus number 32 runs from Yalta to Ai-Petri. You need to get off at the Cable Car stop. You can climb to the very top of Ai-Petri accompanied by a guide and special equipment. This pleasure will cost three to five thousand rubles per group.

Monument to the Lost Ships

The Monument to the Lost Ships is one of those points that it is simply impossible not to visit after visiting Sevastopol. It was installed over a hundred years ago, at the beginning of the twentieth century. Then it was considered a reminder of the first defense of Sevastopol, but over time it became a symbol of the city.

Now it is near the Monument to the Dead Ships that all military parades in the city take place. A gray column with an eagle on top does not let you forget about every tragedy that has ever happened at sea. The sailors themselves consider this monument to be their talisman.

Finding the monument is easy enough. It is located on the Primorsky Boulevard of Sevastopol.

Unusual, interesting and non-touristic places in Crimea that we have visited and recommend you visit. Find out what you can see in the vicinity of Sudak, Novy Svet, Bakhchisaray, Tarkhankut, Yalta. We also give tips and recommendations on how to get to these places.

This article will focus on interesting places in Crimea that we visited in 2014 as part of - about non-trivial and little-known or, for some reason, little-visited sights of Crimea. That is, we will not talk about mega-popular places where tourists usually go, for example, about the Swallow's Nest or the Genoese fortress. Of course, these sights of the Crimea, which have become its calling card, are worth a look, but about them - another time. Also in the article we give tips on visiting interesting places in Crimea and describe how to get there.

The most convenient and interesting way to travel around Crimea is by rented car. You can pick up a car on the Skyscanner Car Hire website - there is a wide selection of cars, rent from 1700 rubles per day.

Novyi Svet: Reserve and Massif Karaul-Oba

The Novosvetsky Reserve and the Karaul-Oba mountain range are located between the villages of Veseloye and Novyi Svet. These places do not experience close attention of tourists. Rare lovers of hiking in the mountains usually get here, and even then they visit far from all the nooks and crannies of the reserve. The trails in the reserve are good, marked, but in some places you should be careful and careful. Just in case, it is better to have a map with marked trails and GPS, so as not to lose your way and not miss anything interesting.

How to get there: You can climb to the reserve either from the side of the New World (like us), or from the side of Vesely. We advise you to get to Vesely - Kutlak Bay - and go up from there, and go down to the New World. Entrance to the reserve is free. If you go through the village of Novy Svet, you need to go along Chaliapin Street and start descending along the path leading through the gorge to the Tsarskoye Beach, almost immediately you will notice a path that runs along the gorge on the right side - you need it.

Staircase of the Tauris, valleys of Hell and Paradise, Cosmos Peak and Karaul-Oba Peak

We recommend visiting this truly unusual and interesting place in Crimea to everyone. In addition to stunning views, this place has a special charm. It is believed that the ancient staircase, which was built by the Taurians, is more than 2.5 thousand years old. Whether it's true or not, climbing this stone spiral staircase will definitely impress you. Be careful - the stairs are limited on one side only and go along the cliff. In some places, the width of the stairs reaches only 40 cm, and the steps are dilapidated and worn out. One place is especially dangerous - about half way you need to cross a kind of "flight" of stairs over a cliff.

On the Staircase of the Taurians, you can climb to the platform where the sanctuary of the Tauris was previously located. From there you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the bay and Cape Kapchik. From the site, you can climb Cosmos Peak, but be careful: the stones slide and a strong wind often blows. By the way, Cosmos peak is mistaken for the top of Karaul-Oba. In fact, the top of the mountain is located on the other side of the Valley of Paradise, a separate path leads there.

Advice: Wear comfortable shoes, light sneakers with non-slip soles are best, as rocks and tree roots are very slippery in some places. Take a backpack with you to keep your hands free, as well as drinking water and something to eat.

How to get there: Climb the trail in the manner described above, either from Novyi Svet or from Vesely. We walked from the New World along the marked path to the fork, at the fork you need to go right along the path to the Valley of Paradise (it blooms beautifully in spring and early summer). Then you need to go along the valley, about halfway to the left leads the so-called Tarzan's path from the roots of trees, which ends with stone boulders. There you will see the Staircase of the Tauris, along which, after passing through the narrow and cool Adam's bed (cleft), you can climb the plateau and the Cosmos peak.

Where to stay in Crimea? It is better to look for hotels, apartments and houses on the popular Hotellook service - there you can find very comfortable accommodation at any price! For example, apartments by the sea in Yalta cost from 4200 rubles per day. Also, good offers of inexpensive housing can be found in ours.

Fortress Kutlak

On the western slope of Karaul-Oba, you can find the ruins of a fortress built around the 1st century BC. From the once impregnable walls there are pitiful ruins, which tourists almost do not know about.

How to get there: Through the village of Veseloye or through the New World along the ecological path described above. Use OSMAnd - all trails and sights, viewpoints and other POIs are marked there.

Cape Kapchik

Everyone who walked along the Golitsyn Trail reached Cape Kapchik, but not everyone went beyond the prohibition sign installed on it. If you go further along the path, you can go around the cape and go to a small and cozy observation deck, pleasantly blown by the wind - you can relax there. Be careful, in some places the path is very narrow, it goes over a cliff. It is forbidden to climb to the top of the cape, since, according to rumors, people have repeatedly fallen off from there, although some daredevils climb to this day.

How to get there: Walk along the Golitsyn trail and go beyond the prohibition sign, then go along the path that goes around the cape.

Surroundings of Sudak

Ai-George

This mountain in the vicinity of Sudak is unusually picturesque, as well as the road to it. Only now a rare tourist decides to climb it, but meanwhile the view from the mountain is simply amazing: on one side there are almost sheer cliffs, the valley and the Tokluk ridge, on the other - dried up, lifeless, but such beautiful beams. The height of the mountain is about 500 meters.

Advice: You need comfortable and reliable shoes, as well as a supply of drinking water.

How to get there: It is better to go through the village, to which the road leads from the highway. You need to go along the vineyard, and then turn right along the path and go deeper into the forest. Half of the way passes through this forest, the walk is very easy. Then begins the juniper grove and a steep climb to the top, which will take about 40 minutes. The descent is difficult, as the stones roll down under your feet. Try to hold on to the juniper branches and step on the roots, using them as a ladder. It is better to climb to the top either in the morning or closer to sunset.

There are also not very many visitors to this cape, known in certain circles - mostly they come here for silence, secluded beaches and hiking. Meganom can rightly be called one of the most interesting places in Crimea - there is an opinion that there are places of power on the cape, that witches hold covens here and have picnics on the side of the UFO. We wandered around this mysterious cape and we can say that there is definitely something in it: the desert landscapes of Nevada, coupled with the sea, sultry ringing silence, bizarrely shaped rocks and boulders, and circles made of stones set in a mystical mood.

Advice: You need comfortable shoes and drinking water (there is a cafe only on Rybachy Beach). Be careful, in one place the path runs along a cliff - it is very narrow and crumbles. In addition, if other people go towards you, it is unlikely that you will be able to disperse. If you are afraid of heights, it is better to pass this section by going down a little along another path - it will lead you to Cape Rybachy and merge with the main path.

Alchak-Kaya and Aeolian harp

Another interesting place on the Crimean peninsula is the Alchak-Kaya tract. This cape near Sudak was seen by every vacationer there. Mostly tourists go along the ecological path from the embankment, but we strongly recommend climbing to the very top from the side of the highway - from there a stunning view of the surroundings of Sudak opens: Ai-Georgiy, Meganom, Kapselskaya Valley and Karaul-Oba. The top of the cape is very picturesque - there is a juniper grove, a scorched valley and sheer cliffs.

How to get there: If you turn left onto the path from the ecological path after a small wild beach, you will see a through grotto - this is the Aeolian harp. The ascent is easy, from here you can also reach the top of the mountain. We recommend climbing to the Aeolian Harp at sunset, when it is beautifully lit by golden rays.

Tarkhankut: interesting places in the west of Crimea

Big and Small Atlesh, Dzhangulskoe landslide coast

I would call Tarkhankut one of the most memorable and interesting places in Crimea. Due to the almost complete absence of sandy beaches and remoteness from the resorts, this place has retained its cleanliness and privacy. Those who go in for diving mainly go to Tarkhankut - the water here is crystal clear. We are not fond of diving and we advise you to go here for unusually beautiful landscapes: steep cliffs, bizarre rocks, endless steppe and much more. It’s worth coming here either in the spring, when the steppe blooms, or at the end of summer - the beginning of autumn: the season is closed at this time, there are almost no vacationers, the hotels are cheap (we rented a room for 200 rubles), the village of Olenevka is quiet and silent, as if everything had died out - you feel himself the last person on earth.

(Photo © Andrew Kudrin / flickr.com)

We recommend renting a bike (cheap, leave your passport as a deposit) and go early in the morning to explore the surroundings - to the southeast, where Big and Small Atlesh, the Bowl of Love, the village of Mayak (it was in these places that the famous Soviet films "Amphibian Man" were filmed) and "Pirates of the XX century") and to the northeast - to the Dzhangul landslide coast. Take plenty of drinking water and food, as these regions are deserted. There is a tent on Bolshoy Atlesh where you can buy water and a snack, but the prices are quite high.

How to get there: By bus from Evpatoria to the village of Olenevka, then by bike / car along the asphalt road leading to the village of Mayak, which then turns into a country road. Back, to shorten the path, you can get on the road through the steppe.

Points of Interest near Bakhchisarai

Chufut-Kale, Balta-Tiymez and the ruined cemetery of dervishes

Many people know and have visited Chufut-Kale in Bakhchisaray, but almost everyone passes by a small cemetery of dervishes, located a little away from the path leading to the cave city. It's cool, quiet, dark, mystical atmosphere and the whisper of foliage. If you do not go up to Chufut-Kala, but go further along the road, you can (and should) reach the old Karaite cemetery Balta-Tiymez, which can definitely be called an unusual place in the Crimea.

How to get to the dervish cemetery: You need to follow the path leading to Chufut-Kale, then on the right you will see a stone gate covered with ivy - that is where you need to go.

Yalta: Ai-Petri

In the noisy and touristic Yalta, we recommend that you make an ascent (or descent) to Ai-Petri along the unusually beautiful Taraktash trail. For those who do not like long climbs, we advise you to take the funicular up and go down on foot, enjoying the views.

How to get there: By minibus or taxi to the funicular (cable station in Miskhor). Be prepared for long queues for the funicular.

Here is such a small selection of interesting places in Crimea. You can read about our first impressions of the peninsula in the article.

Intro image source: © Mourner / flickr.com.

planning summer vacation in Crimea, many of us are primarily looking for information about sanatoriums, hotels, hostels or private houses where you can stay for a vacation. This, of course, is important, but mainly for those who are going to sit in the room and enjoy the sea from the balcony. But this peninsula is so beautiful and multifaceted that if you get to know it better, you will always find the most suitable corner for you. After all, Crimea is, first of all, nature and sights, and you will always find cozy housing there.

Sights of the northeastern Crimea with photos, names and descriptions

This part of the peninsula is considered the most underestimated and at the same time promising in terms of tourism. Northeastern steppes- a great place for those who love a relaxing holiday alone with nature.

Arabat arrow

Lake Sivash And Arabat arrow- one of the main natural attractions of the Crimea. Geographically, Lake Sivash is a bay of the Sea of Azov, separated by a narrow spit. According to scientists, the Arabat Spit rose from the sea in the 11th-12th centuries AD, as a result of which a unique salty reservoir with a muddy bottom was formed. Sivash is connected to the Sea of Azov by two narrow straits in the northern part of the Arabat Spit - Genichen (80-150 m wide) and Promoina Strait (100 m wide). This explains the different salinity of the water in the Sivash Lake in its northern part (22%) and southern (87%). The average depth in the bay is 0.5-1 m, reaching 3-4 m in the deepest parts.

Lake Sivash

It is hardly necessary to talk about the benefits mineral mud, especially for people suffering from skin diseases and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. But few people know that in terms of their healing properties, Sivash mud is not inferior to the world-famous mud of the Dead Sea.

However, unfortunately, the tourist potential of the Sivash Bay is practically not realized. Therefore, you have the opportunity to take mud baths absolutely free of charge, renting a house at an affordable price in one of the nearest villages or camping in a tent. The latter, by the way, is preferable, because the air near the lake is also rich in minerals useful for the body.

Therapeutic mud is contraindicated to be applied to damaged areas of the skin! While taking mud baths, one should be in the shade and prevent the mud from drying on the skin.

But, let's just say, the Arabat arrow is interesting not only by mud. The width of the spit in some places is 300-400 meters, so you can successfully combine medical procedures with a sea holiday. The Sea of \u200b\u200bAzov warms up well in shallow water and is safe enough for swimming. Therefore, even if you are more attracted to the sights of the South Coast, and you would like to spend a few days there without children, grandchildren and grandparents will not be bored in this part of Crimea. And soon you will be able to join them.

There is more to see in the northern part of Crimea if you are traveling by car.

Traveling in the northern Crimea, be sure to admire its natural attractions. Perhaps the most picturesque of the many lakes is Lake Red, where residents of Krasnoperekopsk like to relax. The water in it is the usual turquoise color for the sea, and the lake got its name for the red color of salt deposits on the shore, when the reservoir becomes shallow in summer.

Sights of Western Crimea

Continuing the journey through the steppe Crimea, we go to Evpatoria. This city on the western coast of Crimea is not very rich in architectural sights, but it attracts family vacation lovers with its wide sandy beaches and plenty of entertainment for children.

  1. First, take your child to entertainment complex "Dinopark", where you can see life-size figures of dinosaurs, visit a wide variety of attractions and a children's cafe.
  2. Then go to "Aquarium" And dolphinarium of Evpatoria.
  3. Also available to tourists aquapark And Amusement and amusement park.

Well, adults will certainly attract "House of Wine", where a wide range of Crimean wines is presented. Here you can get acquainted with the history of the Crimean winemaking, visit the tasting room and buy the varieties you like.

And be sure to visit arboretum of Evpatoria, included in the top attractions of Crimea. Here, in the shade of exotic trees, you can relax from the bustle of the city and enjoy the singing of birds.

The main profile of Yevpatoria is a sanatorium-and-spa vacation. There are 28 sanatoriums of various profiles and specializations in the city, and you, according to the recommendations of your doctor, will be able to choose the most suitable one for yourself.

But if you are going to the Crimea specifically for the purpose of sanatorium treatment, then we recommend that you immediately go to saki. This city stands on Lake Saki, whose mud is the best therapeutic mud in the Crimea. Therefore, it was here that the first mud bath in Russia was founded. Local sanatoriums also widely use mineral waters from Saka springs.

Between Evpatoria and Sakami is one of the best natural attractions of the Crimea, which is worth a visit - Lake Sasyk-Sivash. Once Sasyk was a bay of the Black Sea, but the sea waves gradually formed a sandy dam. As a result, the largest salt lake of Crimea was formed, which, in addition to its medicinal properties, is also famous for its pink water surface. This shade of water is given by salts containing beta-carotene.

In a word, the spectacle is so amazing that, even just passing by, it is impossible not to stop to take a few photos.

Those who think that after the Southern coast of the beauty of the Crimea fade, they are deeply mistaken. In the southeast of Crimea, there are enough beautiful places and sights for a full-fledged photo album. So let's move east.

The first city that reveals its beauties to us is Zander. A beautiful view of the Sudak Bay opens from the Fortress Mountain, which got its name from the Genoese fortress located on it. The Genoese successfully used the features of the landscape, protecting the citadel from the north with a double line of defense.
