Even more entertainment awaited the guests of the holiday on the site in front of the Moscow Hotel (the intersection of Okhotny Ryad and Mokhovaya streets with Tverskaya).

Part of Tverskaya from Maly Gnezdnikovsky to Voznesensky Lane will be turned into a street of attractions and architectural monuments. Art objects will be installed there in the form of all the Stalinist high-rise buildings in Moscow, the buildings of the Rizhsky and Yaroslavsky railway stations, a model of the Shukhov Tower, the Melnikov House and the sculpture “Worker and Collective Farm Woman”. An experimental construction site will open for children, where they will learn to operate a crane and excavator and feel like real city builders. Nearby, guests can see a model of the Crimean Bridge, 15 meters long and five meters high. A copy of it will be used as a real rope town, where you can test your dexterity. A real scientific cluster will open between Voznesensky and Stoleshnikov lanes. There you will be able to find out how time flows and the days and months of the year change - this will be shown by a two-meter mechanical model of a calendar with an open mechanism. Those who are interested not in man-made mechanisms, but in the precise systems that nature creates, will be curious to look at the transparent panels on which you can see the circulatory system and the human skeleton.

Between Stoleshnikov and Bryusov lanes there will be a site dedicated to scientists and researchers who lived and worked in Moscow.

For example, there festival guests will see a model of the deep-sea research vehicle "Mir", created in Moscow by scientist Igor Mikhaltsev, a papyrus boat "Ra-2", on which the famous Soviet television journalist Yuri Senkevich traveled, as well as a large globe with a small dot on it - Moscow.

A festival zone dedicated to art has been organized from Bryusov to Kamergersky Lane. They will set up a real film set there with a film camera, scenery and spotlights. And next to it there will be a dressing room with makeup artists, stylists and make-up artists who will help Muscovites transform into real movie heroes. Near Kamergersky Lane, the legendary transforming scenery for the play “The Magnanimous Cuckold,” staged by Vsevolod Meyerhold in 1922, will be recreated.

Selfie lovers will be able to take a spectacular photo while inside a three-dimensional model of Kandinsky’s painting “Improvisation No. 8”. The space dedicated to sports achievements and records will be divided into three zones. The first will be located on the section from Kamergersky to Nikitsky Lane. For City Day, a ten-meter climbing wall in the form of the Moscow City towers will be built on this site. On site, instructors will provide visitors with the necessary equipment and conduct free master classes on rock climbing.

For lovers of strength training and outdoor activity, a huge “Parkour Park” with a total area of ​​about two thousand square meters will be built. An area for hand-to-hand combat and a boxing ring will be located nearby.

A second sports ground will appear in the area from Nikitsky Lane to the intersection of Tverskaya and Mokhovaya streets. There, festival guests will be able to work out on exercise machines to develop coordination, jump on trampolines and watch performances of extreme cycling athletes in the freestyle park.

And on Okhotny Ryad, from Mokhovaya Street to Teatralny Proezd, you can play volleyball and football on the sand, practice fencing and ride hoverboards. For the 870th anniversary, Moscow will be decorated in a single corporate style. The concept was based on original textile patterns created by Soviet artists Lyubov Popova and Varvara Stepanova in 1923-1924. In their work on ornaments, they were guided by the works of world-famous Russian avant-garde artists and constructivists.

The parks also prepared a rich program for the City Day celebration. Visitors will see fashion shows by the capital's designers, enjoy performances by European and Russian opera singers, plunge into the atmosphere of the 1960s and 1970s, and watch their favorite films about the capital.

At the main entrance to the park there will be an installation by Artem Stefanov dedicated to Konstantin Melnikov. “Moscow through the eyes of Melnikov” is a ten-layer structure that will allow you to look at the city through the eyes of a Soviet architect, the author of monuments from the constructivist era.

Konstantin Melnikov is the author of the idea for the entrance group of the park: according to his plan, the park began with the arch of the main entrance, behind it there was a garden, flower beds and a large fountain. Melnikov's embodied ideas made the Park a model of urban spaces throughout the country in the 1930s. The image of an ideal vacation spot is carefully preserved by the park's management, and now, 90 years later, it influences how the park lives: in recent years, the park has become a platform for experiments, a place for the implementation of bold architectural projects, and the most advanced park in Russia.

The two-day event, where the latest technologies and traditional crafts meet, was organized three years ago at NUST MISIS by the digital production laboratory FabLab, and this year supported by Gorky Park and the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art.

The festival program includes events for visitors of all ages: watching the work of large 3D printers and mechatronic dinosaurs, getting acquainted with the traditional crafts of blacksmiths and potters, designer electronics and robotics, media artists and works of digital art, conducting scientific experiments and even launching rockets.

Excursion marathon for City Day

The story will touch on the famous “Girl with an Oar”, and two models who posed for the sculptor Ivan Shadr, a parachute tower, Maxim Gorky’s favorite flowers, and the Golitsyn Wall Gazebos by the architect Matvey Kazakov on Pushkinskaya Embankment.

HERMITAGE GARDEN

8 September, on City Day, the sixth “Theater March” will be held in the Hermitage Garden - the largest open-air theater festival in Russia. In a 12-hour marathon, 10 Moscow theaters will present their performances: the Taganka Theater, the Musical Theater named after K.S. Stanislavsky and Vl. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko, Meyerhold Center, Ballet Moscow, School of Dramatic Art, School of Modern Play and others.

This year, guests will see three premieres, two productions created specifically for our holiday, and the largest family program in the history of Theater March, which will include 8 performances.
The Taganka Theater will present a concert version of Alexei Frandetti's musical "Sweeney Todd, the Maniacal Barber of Fleet Street."

The program from choreographers from the Netherlands will be presented by Ballet Moscow. Festival guests will see the premiere performance “Transcription of Color”, as well as the one-act ballet “Eros Redux”

The Ubertheater team from the Meyerhold Center created the interactive performance “Collection of Adventures. Real Moscow." The premiere of Alexander Ogarev’s “Chairmen of the Globe” about the fates of Vladimir Mayakovsky and Velimir Khlebnikov will be shown by the “School of Dramatic Art”.

The main theme of this year's City Day: “Moscow is my inspiration.”

Guests of Perovsky Park will see performances by famous artists of Moscow drama and musical theaters. On September 8 and 9, Sadovniki Park will host celebrations of Moscow’s 871st birthday. September 8 and 9 Muscovites will celebrate City Day in Izmailovsky Park together with their favorite artists and finalists of the Metro On Stage festival of young musicians!

This year the Metro On Stage festival turns 10, so on September 8, the brightest finalists of the competition - Alessiee, Margosha, Time Square, Hardballs, Hell Bruzies, Becomung a Hero, PRAVDA and others - will rock the stage of Izmailovsky Park. Famous musicians of the Russian rock scene, according to tradition, will dilute the “young blood” - Nike Borzov, Olga Kormukhina and Alexey Belov, Igor Sarukhanov, and the group “Uma2rman” will perform in the park.

The concert will be hosted by Karina Vasilyeva (“Volunteer of Russia 2017, Active Citizen 2018”) and Igor Sedov (host of the radio station “Our Radio”).

The first day of celebration will end with fireworks at 21:00.

On September 8 and 9, the Lilac Garden will host a City Day celebration dedicated to the problem of homeless animals.

The central event in Kolomenskoye will be the folk festivities on Voznesenskaya Square (Kolomenskaya metro station) on September 8. According to tradition, the holiday opens with the performance of the Moscow Anthem at 13:00. Next, viewers will enjoy the bright program “You have no equal in the world!” (“You have no equal in the world, ancient Moscow...” V.V. Bryusov). Professional musical groups will perform favorite Soviet songs and classical works.

Next to the stage on Ascension Square there will be a “Town of Craftsmen” - free master classes and classes in folk crafts, in which anyone can take part. The program will be of interest to people of all ages and families with children.

In the ancient Kazan apple orchard, at the intersection of the Main and Linden alleys, from 13:00 to 17:00, the children's playground “Apple Noon” will be open. The holiday was prepared jointly with the Association of Historical Gardens and Parks. The event will take place simultaneously in two museum reserves - in Moscow in Kolomenskoye and in Tsarskoye Selo near St. Petersburg. Participants of the master classes will present their works on the decorated area; everyone will be able to leave a chalk drawing on the asphalt, and also draw coloring pictures together with the kids. A large 35-meter surfing pool with a “Stone Flower” fountain will be installed on Mokhovaya Street. Children over 8 years old and adults will be able to learn paddle boarding and watch surfing athletes. An 80-meter rope - a zipline - is stretched above the pool at a height of 10 meters. Come ride!

In total, 200 sports master classes will be held for guests. Everything is free, including rental of skateboards, bicycles, rollers and other equipment.

A garden in the form of a VDNKh map will be created on Manezhka with an area of ​​one thousand square meters consisting of four thousand chrysanthemums of different colors.

Concert program

Concerts of classical and modern pop music will be held on four large stages on Tverskaya during the celebration of Moscow Day 2019.
