How to draw flying butterflies. How to draw a butterfly with a pencil step by step: master class

Having decided to write about how to draw a butterfly with a pencil step by step, I realized that it couldn’t be done with simple instructions with photographs of other people’s master classes or their videos. At the same time, I will show you how, together with you, I will follow the recommendations for beginners, so that we can have the most beautiful of the beautiful, the most winged of the winged, and the most unusual of the original, a flower moth! Go!

First step. Drawing a cocoon

How to draw a butterfly? Where to begin? Surprisingly, in order for our picture to come out smooth and beautiful, we need a ruler. Knowing myself, I also equipped myself with an eraser to wipe off anything that would spoil the picture.

What we need:

  • Colour pencils;
  • Paper;
  • Ruler;
  • Grater.
So, we begin to draw a butterfly step by step with a pencil from the cocoon. It should be a little thinner than an egg, but at the same time thicker than we associate with the cocoon from which our moth will emerge.

We draw a line across our cocoon, so that its upper part consists of 2/3 of the cocoon. I took the simplest example of how to draw a butterfly with a pencil step by step.

Second step. Making wings

It's time to draw the wings. They differ in shape and size. The lower ones are extended vertically, the upper ones slightly horizontally.

I measure the same line segment to the left and right of the cocoon. This is where the upper and lower wings will touch. How to draw lower wings? They come from one point at the bottom of the cocoon. The upper ones do not touch at the top.

Their shape may not be ideal, but it is advisable to try to ensure that they are rounded and symmetrical to one another (upper to upper, and lower wing to lower).

Third step. We draw mustaches for our Monarch

we complement the butterflies important detail. In those places where the upper wings extend from the cocoon, we will have antennae. We make a loop at the top of each drawn antennae.

At the same point you need to slightly change the cocoon, making it narrower to the bottom. Now it looks more believable.

I took an example of how to draw a butterfly step by step from my children's lessons in the art studio. But you can choose a more “adult” image of our noble “moth”, making it more like the real thing.

Fourth step. Let our beauty have patterns on her wings!

You can choose any pattern. But the most traditional one is circles and divorces. How to learn to draw patterns? I kept them very simple: on each wing there are two circles - one larger, it will be located closer to the edge of each wing. The second one is closer to the cocoon, and I will draw it smaller in size.

In this image you need to paint the “body” of the moth with patterns. Several stripes run across it in arcs. You can learn to draw a butterfly with amazing patterns, come up with one yourself, or get an idea from the website.

Fifth step. Removing unnecessary

Let's examine our masterpiece. It is not perfect, but it is already clear that the “moth” depicted on it promises to become a beauty. And we can help her with this if we carefully erase with a rubber band all the unnecessary details and lines that helped us draw her. Now they are not needed and we carefully remove them. Then, we draw a butterfly and trace its contours with a pencil.

Sixth step. Drawing pictures with colored pencils

The most pleasant moment has come, we need to add color to all the details and then our ward should “come to life.” Let's use colored pencils. We drew a butterfly, but it can and should be made motley and colorful. That is why I paint its body yellow, its wings with a red pencil, and the decorative spots on its wings blue and orange.

But our Monarch (and this is definitely it, judging by its beauty) will look even more beautiful against a bright background. That's why I draw a leaf. It’s as if our lovely creature is sitting on a leaf and offering its wings to the sun! Beauty!

If you are interested in learning how to draw a butterfly on a flower, then you can use the same technique as with a leaf. We “plant” the ready-made moth on a chamomile, cornflower or other flower arrangement.

With your participation, I was able to draw beautiful butterfly. This is very simple technique execution of the drawing. It is easy to master even for those who have never used pencils, and even for children it will not be difficult. Parents who want to spend quality time with their kids can draw such a moth with them.

Perhaps one day a child will surprise adults when he gives not a purchased postcard with a photo, but one he made himself. And his craft will be decorated with a design of a lovely butterfly!

Butterfly - beautiful insect, Russian name which comes from the Old Slavonic “babъka”, which translated into our modern language means "old woman" or "grandmother". So, aspiring artists, let's get started painting this beauty!

Necessary materials:

  • colored pencils in yellow, brown, orange and green;
  • a simple pencil;
  • marker;
  • ruler;
  • eraser.

Steps for drawing a butterfly:

1. We will start this drawing by depicting simple lines and geometric shapes. First we need to draw a vertical line on a piece of paper.

4. From horizontal line With a pencil you should draw one arc to the sides, left and right.

5. To the ends of the arcs we will draw one more from the body. In this way we get the upper halves of the butterfly's wings.

6. Now let's draw the lower parts of the wings in the form of circles.

7. Through each section of the wing we will draw a line that will extend slightly beyond the circle.

8. Draw the tips of the wings below, making them wavy.

9. We change the shape of the upper parts of the wings. We make sure to make them symmetrical and without sharp corners. Everything should look gentle and beautiful!

10. We detail the body of the butterfly: we finish the eyes in the form of tiny circles, the ends on the antennae, and smooth out the shape.

11. At this stage, you should remove all unnecessary auxiliary areas and prepare the drawing for applying the outline and color. In these sketches you can already recognize the future butterfly!

12. Next, with a marker we begin to outline each wing and antennae, and also do not forget about the body, where the head with eyes is located. In some places you can make a beautiful thickening of the edges. This is very easy to do: just run a marker over this area not once, but two or three times.

13. Then we begin to decorate the butterfly - in the middle of each wing we apply patterns with a pencil at our discretion and desire. You can also leave them untouched and simply paint them with bright colors.

14. If you prefer patterns, then you should outline them with a black marker or felt-tip pen.

15. Now we begin to paint the upper wings yellow.

16. Add bright orange accents.

17. We paint the lower wings with green pencils.

18. Draw the body and head with brown pencils.

Now we have a beautiful one step by step drawing! We were able to draw a winged butterfly!

Hello! Today we will tell you how to draw a butterfly! This is the first on this moment an insect that appeared on our website. Unless we drew earlier, but this, of course, is an arthropod. And it was noticeably more difficult to draw - today’s butterfly is very simple, except for the stages with the pattern on the wings.

But they won’t be particularly difficult if you stick to the order and carefully consider the schemes that our artists offer for you. Let's start the lesson and find out!

Step 1

Let's start drawing with such a small circle.

Step 2

Step 3

Now let's outline the wide wings. More precisely, only the upper contours. By the way, on our website there are many lessons on drawing flowers, so you can also draw a butterfly sitting on.

Step 4

Next, draw the lower edges of the wings and a line that will separate the actual upper parts of the wings and the lower ones. The dividing line looks like a horizontal line that runs through almost our entire drawing. it crosses the body of the butterfly at the top (note, it’s at the top, not in the middle).

Step 5

We draw the antennae of our butterfly, outline the side edges of the wings. The contours of the edges should be symmetrically jagged, but smooth.

Step 6

If you wanted to know, you'll have to look into the patterns on her wings. In this step everything is very simple, you need to draw patterns on the upper parts of her wings. We recommend drawing the largest shapes first - the one at the bottom and the one closest to the butterfly's body.

Step 7

But here it will be more difficult. There are a lot of lines, you can get confused if you don’t follow the order. But we decided to make a small diagram on which we highlighted in red what should be drawn first.

Here's what it will look like without markup:

Step 8

We complete our lesson by applying ovals to areas free from the main patterns. Please note that the ovals should be positioned symmetrically. We also note that if you see a clear asymmetry of the pattern, it means that you made a mistake in one of the previous stages.

Look at the illustrations for the lesson not as pictures of butterflies drawn in pencil, but as diagrams, follow the sequence and identify the error.

Butterflies offer many color and texture options. Their wings are velvety and iridescent, allowing for rich colors that are softly blended together.

For a smooth, shiny body, a multi-color polish works best; for hairy parts, use short, linear strokes. This single object opens up many techniques and possibilities for the artist.

So how to draw a butterfly?

In order to draw a butterfly, you will need the following colors:

Step 1. How to draw a butterfly with colored pencils

After I drew the butterfly sketch, I transferred it to smooth drawing paper. Please note that I also included the pattern on the butterfly's wings in the sketch.

Step 2. How to draw a butterfly with colored pencils

Fill in the pattern on the wings with lemon yellow and erase the pencil lines of the sketch.

Step 3 How to draw a butterfly with colored pencils

Now I applied the yellow-orange color over the lemon yellow, but left it showing through in some areas. I used the same color to paint the right pupil and antenna.

Step 4. How to draw a butterfly with colored pencils

I applied some pumpkin orange on top of the yellow orange around the edges of the design. Next I used Tuscan Red to fill in the dark areas of the wings and body, as well as the left eye and antenna.

Step 5. How to draw a butterfly with colored pencils

I added purple and blue areas to the wings, and painted the left eye and antenna blue.

Step 6. How to draw a butterfly with colored pencils

I filled the empty areas with black, covering up some of the colors. I also painted both eyes and the right antenna black. Voila! Beautiful butterfly.

In the next lesson we will draw. Share your work on

I will teach you how to draw a butterfly with a pencil step by step for beginners, in fact, at the beginning the butterfly is drawn quite simply, but with each stage it becomes more complicated. An important point is how you will draw the wings of this beautiful creature. Naturally, after you have drawn a butterfly, you can decorate it, but little children love to do this. And I will demonstrate everything to you from the very beginning, we will naturally start with the torso.

There will be extraneous lines in the figure, for clear example, if you have some skill in drawing, then you don’t have to make these lines, so as not to erase them with an eraser later.

Beginning hand drawn butterflies lung, as I said. We draw a vertical thin line and draw three oval figures, at the top is the head, which is more roundish, then the body, consisting of two parts.

Next step: bottom part We sketch the torso with small horizontal arcs. And below the first half of the body we draw the first parts of the wings. Thus, how to draw a butterfly is already drawn.

We connect the rays that look up on the wings with arcs next to the butterfly’s head. From the first half of the body I drew lines down, for clarity, you can see that the lower wings are drawn evenly.

The following drawn pictures of a butterfly already decorate it, and there are no basic elements. You can repeat after me or dream up your own imagination. We draw winding patterns on the wings, be sure to adhere to the symmetry of both wings, this is such a feature of butterflies in our world.
First, we draw the main patterns (lines).
