MANY SPOILERS!

This is a story about a guy and a girl who, once exchanging bodies, ended up bound to each other forever. This is a story about feelings, about their power, capable of conquering even time. This is a story about a miracle. The characters call their feelings a wonderful dream. The comet is also described here as a miracle. It's a positive story with a bit of a sad undertone and a happy ending. It is told subtly and indirectly, very often with riddles, allusions and symbols, which is why it is valuable. The plot is twisted like the braided threads from the Mitsuha family temple, which "weave and take shape, twist, tangle, sometimes unravel, break, and then weave again."

Sunbeams, combined with slightly sad music, convey the main mood of the anime - sadness and joy together. There are plenty of comical moments and light sadness. Loss of memory, a father who abandoned the "temple of feelings" as the embodiment of sadness. Akudera. On the one hand, she is a symbol of bad luck for Taki. The first date with her was "nightmare", the second too - with a touch of sadness. When a girl cheers you up and, showing a ring on her hand, says “Nothing, and you will succeed” - this is somewhat sad. On the other side of Akudera is his friendly support.

The symbolism is very strong here. A comet with an orbital period of 1200 years is a miracle. The change of bodies in a dream is a symbol of a miracle, because the most amazing thing happens in a dream. Being in each other's bodies and living each other's life is a symbol of deep understanding. The teacher at the lesson: “In the twilight you can see unseen creatures” - a miracle, a positive moment. Taki and Mitsuha were able to see each other when they met - only when the sun was covered by clouds, at dusk.

Grandmother: “Musubi is a guardian deity. Musubi means knot and end. Weaving threads is Musubi, weaving people's lives is also Musubi, and even the flow of time itself is Musubi. All this is the power of the deity, so the braided laces that we make express the divine act, the very essence of the passage of time. The threads are woven and take shape, twisted, tangled, sometimes unraveled, torn, but then woven again. This is Musubi - weaving knots, this is time itself. These words indicate that the temple of the Mitsuha family is a "temple of feelings." They symbolize the bizarre flow of time, and the fact that time is subject to feelings.

Grandmother: “Listen to the voice of the thread. If you spin for a long time, feelings will immediately rush out of the space between the thread and the person. The millennial history of Itomori is woven into our shoelaces. Two centuries ago, the sandal oil bath caught fire, the fire spread and burned everything around. The temple and old documents burned down. And they called it the great Mayugoro fire (some analogy with the fall of a comet). The meaning of our holidays is buried in time. But, let the words be forgotten - the tradition must live. This is an important task that is entrusted to us, the servants of the temple.” This can be understood as follows - trust your feelings, and even if you do not know why - listen to their voice, follow them. Taki is ready to come back from a trip with ease when he begins to feel that he is moving in the wrong direction. The lace on his wrist, left in the past by the still unknown Taki Mitsuha, gives him a hint in which direction to move. And the same lace, braided by Mitsuha in the form of a ribbon on his head, helps him recognize Mitsuha when he has already forgotten her.

Mitsuha is a priestess who makes sake. Firstly, the priestess is a guide to the truth, and secondly, she is a symbol of putting feelings into sake that can sweep through time. Drinking Taki's sake in the temple of the deity (temple of the senses) is very symbolic (indirect kiss) - a rite in a holy place. Taki and Mitsuha met there. And it is there that Taki gives Mitsuha the lace, and she ties it on her head with a ribbon.

Mitsuha in Taki's body in a cafe. Two of her (his) friends admire the design of the ceiling, and Mitsuha looks at two dogs wagging their tails. One is in a blue suit and tie, with a blue bow, the other is in a pink blouse and with a pink bow. As far as I know, at the birth of boys, they are swaddled and tied with a blue ribbon, and girls with pink. A very eloquent symbol of Mitsuha's desire to find love.

Suddenly, obviously - at the same time, Taki and Mitsuha, tears begin to flow, either - at the moment of the comet's fall, or - at the moment of a premonition of this, their parting. Mitsuha, around the same time, cutting her hair.

After Taki's words, "But, for reasons unknown to me, Mitsuha and I didn't switch bodies anymore," a cloudy night sky, a full lone moon, and two crossed power lines are shown. After the lace on Taki's wrist gives him a clue what to do next - a shot: the night sky, the moon, but - shining brightly, and under its rays the black clouds recede. When Taki starts looking for Mitsuha, they again show the night sky, the clouds have slightly dissipated, the moon is already half hidden, lights are flashing on the tower cranes at the construction site, like beacons of hope. After a night of work (drawing landscapes), morning comes, the rays of the sun illuminate the drawings hanging on the wall - it's time to go! A downpour and a thunderstorm - when Taki, illuminated by a hunch, rushes in search of Mitsuha - “I will find you, despite all the difficulties! »

And the anime ends with the phrase "What's your name?" And the name is the key to a person, especially for the Japanese.

This story tells about feelings, about a miracle. But, for me personally, both this story and this anime are themselves a real miracle.

Good day, dear Aniboksyata! Today, I, Aimi-chan, will introduce you to a very romantic and touching anime. Therefore, take handkerchiefs with you and sit back comfortably, as the best moments of this beautiful creation await you with:

Of course we won't meet. But... if it does work out, what should I do? Will he get angry or just be embarrassed? Or maybe... he'll be a little happy? Of course we won't meet. But... I am sure of one thing: if we see each other, we will immediately understand that you lived by me, that I lived by you.

One day you will find your happiness.

Makoto Shinkai is a director whose films, not infrequently, make me negative emotions, but in this case- almost in love he wants to confess. Your Name is an anime that is scheduled to premiere in Russia in September 2017. However, the world premiere has long passed - the picture was taken more than a year ago and is in the public domain.

PLOT:

Of course we won't meet. But... if it does work out, what should I do? Will he get angry or just be embarrassed? Or maybe... he'll be a little happy? Of course we won't meet. But... I am sure of one thing: if we see each other, we will immediately understand that you lived by me, that I lived by you.

She is a simple girl from a village lost somewhere in the mountains of Japan. He is an urban, modern resident. Completely different people, unfamiliar with each other, who are united by dissatisfaction with their fate, and a dream of a completely different life. Their wish comes true, but in an incredible way. One strange morning, they switch bodies.

HEROES:

Taki - a regular guy, who lives in Tokyo, but dreams of someday moving to the countryside and enjoying a measured life.

Who is this? Who did I want to see? Dear person whom I do not want to forget! Which must not be forgotten! But who? Whom? Whom? Whom? Your name?

Mitsuha - a sweet girl from the village, with a dream of living in a big city.

In the morning I open my eyes and for some reason cry. It happens to me. I can't remember that dream at all. Only... only... I remember that I lost something. This feeling does not leave me for a long time even during the day. I am always looking for something or someone.

Running time - 1 hour, 46 minutes.

Genres- fantasy, mysticism, drama.

How fantasy and mysticism The movie was definitely a success. The case when, at first, a typical, familiar plot, under the influence of genres, turns into something unpredictable and exciting.

Your name is one of the few anime that made me cry. And this despite the fact that melodramas rarely touch me and drama. Sneaked at the moment of twilight in the mountains:

Plot, at first glance, typical and not original. How many times, the heroes of different films, changed bodies - and do not count. However, Your name will definitely surprise the viewer with one turn, perhaps even move you to tears. It is difficult to speak about everything without spoilers, I can only say that that topic with the comet, or rather, the events associated with it, touches on very important social moments, and makes you remember not the most pleasant historical events.

It was funny to watch the desire of a city dweller to move to the countryside, and a village dweller, on the contrary, to live in the city. Something like this, often, and it happens, or - everywhere it's good where we are not.

By the way, throughout the film, the viewer observes a red ribbon, which is either in the heroine's possession, or in the hero's possession. A simple, and, at first glance, unimportant detail. However, I noticed that the Japanese, in their films and anime, especially those related to mysticism, often introduce such tapes into the plot that, as it were, bind lovers together. But, more often, this is an ephemeral detail that either no one sees at all, or only lovers see it. Here the tape is real. And a quote from the anime itself, in the subject:

Threads weave and take shape. Twisted, tangled, sometimes unraveled, torn, but then intertwined again. This is Musubi, knot weaving. It's time itself.

Characters- quite standard, but I was worried about them.

The final- in principle, given all the events, it is quite logical, and does not leave a feeling of incompleteness. A fantastic line also raises no questions - everything is put on the shelves. But, I thought that it would end differently, since Shinkai's paintings usually do not end so simply and logically. Close to his usual style, but I often, at the end of his paintings (it doesn’t matter if the ending is happy or not, the reason is different ... those who are familiar with his work will understand), I think - again, everything is through one place. There were no such thoughts here. From his work, I also liked the movie Garden fine words , that's where not only the picture is good, but also the content with a denouement, there is even something to think about after viewing. Also, I really liked his short film - She and her cat.

Panache in all the films of Makoto Shinkai - a masterpiece! Just for the sake of the picture, usually, I start watching his films. How disappointed I was with the film Five Centimeters Per Second, but what a beautiful one it is (backgrounds and falling snow are mesmerizing). Your name - I like it on all counts, and the drawing, and the plot - everything is perfect. Backgrounds - just ask for a screensaver on your desktop. The night scenes and the starry sky are simply magical.

ABOUT music I must say separately! The soundtracks are atmospheric and catchy. The sound effects are also top notch and feel like the real thing. I really liked it, and immediately went to my playlist, this topic:

RADWIMPS–Kataware Doki

SCREENS:

I'll start the review with a request. Please do not watch this movie poor quality!!! Wait for the BluRay edition to appear. At the time of writing the review, there was a version in the network in terrible quality and half-screen watermarks, which I, for lack of patience, looked at. Don't repeat my mistakes. Do not allow yourself to spoil the impression of Kimi no Na wa, because the art in this film is truly amazing, and you should enjoy it only in the very high quality and ideally on the big screen. In general, be patient, and you will definitely be rewarded.

Makoto Shinkai is back! One of the most famous directors modernity, a recognized genius of romantic everyday life, last works which it was fashionable to criticize in the circles of "refined" critics, again broke into the Olympus of the anime industry by releasing a full-length film Kimi no Na wa ("Your Name", "Your Name"). A film that instantly soared to the top of the world ratings with skyrocketing ratings, and only strengthens its position as more and more viewers get the opportunity to get acquainted with this masterpiece of animation art. At the time of writing, Kimi no Na wa was ranked #1 on the biggest western site MAL with an incredible 9.4/10 rating, beating seemingly immovable anime titans by a wide margin. Gintama And . Let's try to figure out if the numerous accolades for the film are deserved, or if we are witnessing a fashion obsession that will soon subside. In short, absolutely deserved!

Brief information

Your name a feature-length film lasting almost two hours, released in the summer of 2016 by the studio CoMix Wave Films. Makoto Shinkai acted as director, scriptwriter and editor-in-chief. Anime is based on original script . The film from the very first days of hire became the leader of Japanese cinemas. In less than two months, more than 11 million (!) Tickets worth over $140 million were sold in Japan alone. This is the first non-studio film. Ghibli who achieved such a resounding success. But it will still be, because sooner or later Kimi no Na wa will reach the screens of Western cinemas (damn, how I hope to be shown in Russia, how I hope ...).

Your name tells the story of two people who do not know each other. - a girl living in a small town, tired of boring village life and dreaming of moving to Tokyo. — a simple Tokyo boy studying in high school, and in free time working in an Italian restaurant. Their destinies would never have crossed if one day they hadn't accidentally... swapped bodies. Now they have to get to know each other better and find the answer to main question— what happens to them?

I'm sure many of you will have a natural question: "What's in Kimi no Na wa so special? Why is it that a seemingly ordinary film has gained such wild popularity at a time when, it would seem, it is no longer possible to come up with anything revolutionary new and nothing will surprise the viewer? To answer this question, it is necessary to have at least a superficial understanding of the previous works of Makoto Shinkai. The fact is that the works of the director have always been distinguished by the depth of the meaning inherent in them and the emotions evoked during viewing. However, his previous works were aimed at a rather narrow audience and are difficult to perceive. Take for example - a beautiful anime, in my opinion, the best of what Shinkai has previously created. But when, while still a schoolboy, I first saw it on television, I abandoned it after twenty minutes. "Boredom!" thought the young brain, and the hand quickly switched to another channel. To understand Sinkaev's works, one must think. It is necessary to have a certain life experience and try to project the story being told onto own life. Byousoku 5 Centimeter is a really difficult work to understand, which, if misinterpreted, can leave a depressing impression or even drive you into depression. This explains not the highest ratings and a strong divergence of opinions - some people simply did not understand what the director wanted to say, and for them the anime seemed boring (especially for a young audience), and some understood it wrong and were sad that, they say , life is decay and hopelessness, we are all grains of sand in the vast expanses of space.

In "Your Name" the depth of the underlying meaning is approximately at the same level, but for perception it is much simpler. The reason lies in his multi-level. In Byousoku 5 Centimeter, there is only one level of perception - you either understand anime or you don't. Kimi no Na wa has something for everyone. Young viewers will admire comedy and romance, adults will enjoy fantasy and drama, and thinking people will be able to enjoy the struggle of opposites, which he used in his new job Shinkai. Kimi no Na wa gives each viewer the opportunity to experience an endless stream of emotions without the need to search for deep meaning and unnecessary thoughts, whether it be joy, sadness, anger or despair. While maintaining the depth of meaning and power of emotions, Shinkai made his new work accessible to the understanding of the average viewer, and that is why the number of top ratings for Kimi no Na wa is now much higher than for the rest of the master's works.

Kimi no Na wa harmoniously combines traditional and modern Japan. Everyone knows that Japan is a country with deep traditions that are revered by the inhabitants to this day. That, however, does not prevent it from remaining the most developed post-industrial country in the world. Shinkai took all the best from the two opposites of his homeland and combined them in a work. After all, it is not for nothing that the backwoods and prosperous Tokyo were chosen as the scene of action in Kimi no Na wa. It’s not for nothing that so much attention is paid to Japanese deities, traditions, and Tokyo cafes where you can have a delicious snack on cakes. Kimi no Na wa is entirely built on a game of contrasts. Boy and girl. Village and city. Earth and space. Comedy and drama. Everyday life and fantasy. Past and future. The skillful combination of opposites allowed the director to create a spectacle of unprecedented beauty - multifaceted, immense, but at the same time very close and dear.

Characters

A competent choice of characters in an anime about everyday life always plays essential role. Heroes must harmoniously combine two factors: simplicity and originality. Simplicity, because that's what everyday life is for, so that the characters in it are the most ordinary and realistic. The viewer must recognize himself in the characters, because in this case he will empathize with them much more strongly. Originality, because behind boring and gray heroes no one wants to watch. We have enough grayness in Everyday life- tired. The main characters of Kimi no Na wa are Mitsuha Miyamizu and fully comply with the above requirements. Despite the simplicity, it is interesting to watch them, and you really want to empathize. They are realistic, they are bright, they are alive . They have charisma that shows up in small things like Mitsuha's evening shouting about his desires or Taki's rude embarrassment when it comes to his sempai. Combining, these little things add up to bright picture characters that subsequently make you remember the main characters with warmth. By the way, this is one of the rare cases when the fact that the main characters are schoolchildren did not harm the atmosphere of the anime in any way.

Pro minor characters in general, there is nothing to say. They are good, but they play too minor a role to single out anyone in particular. All attention is paid to Mitsuha and Taki, and this is an absolutely justified decision.

Plot

The two-hour film format allowed Shinkai to build a story with a well-defined structure and flowing narrative. He, like no one else, understands the importance of the smooth development of the story being told, because only then the viewer will have time to get used to the characters, only then will he empathize with them and be able to feel the full range of emotions. The plot of Kimi no Na wa is great: there is also a logical plot with an abundance of comedy moments that allow you to quickly get to know the characters and get used to them; And smooth development of action with truly unexpected plot twists breathtaking; And some climactic episodes causing a hurricane of emotions; And quiet intervals so that the viewer can gather his thoughts and relax; And flawless ending answering all questions and providing emotional release. Even fiction, which has always been considered weak side director, fit into the plot of Kimi no Na wa properly. In two hours, Shinkai manages to tell more than most serials. anime series taken together.

A few words about the ending. It was impossible to think of a better ending to the story. I don't understand the reviews that cite the ending of Kimi no Na wa as one of the weak points of the plot. She is gorgeous! The last three minutes to the accompaniment of the song Nandemonaiya groups Radwimps- it's generally best scene that I have ever seen in anime.

Reflections on the ending (with spoilers), if you haven’t watched it, it’s better not to read

Never in my life have I wanted so much to see a happy ending! Yes, sometimes this ending is not optimal and can spoil the impression of the work as a whole, but in the case of Kimi no Na wa, the main characters, and with them the viewer, totally deserved the good ending. They searched, tried with all their might to find each other, and no distance or even time could stop them! Unlike Takaki and Akari from , who lost contact and took it for granted, Mitsuha and Taki did everything to meet again. If they hadn't found each other, my mood would have been ruined for a couple of weeks. I'm absolutely serious! When the characters met at the overpass and walked past each other, I felt an emptiness somewhere inside me, because I really believed that Shinkai would end the story in the same way as in one of his previous works. But, fortunately, the master was not so cruel, and made the right decision. After I finished watching, I had a smile on my face for a long time. Smile absolutely happy person. How little we sometimes need to be happy!

Reflections on emotions (also with spoilers), if you haven’t watched, it’s better not to read

In fact, I can't even imagine how hard it was for the anime characters. For five years, they realized that they had lost something very precious, but they could not remember what it was. Has it ever happened to you that you come up with a good idea, keep it in your head all day, and then, at the right moment, it eludes you? Do you know the feeling of resentment and despair when you are trying to remember something in a panic, but you can’t? Now try to realize that Mitsuha and Taki had to experience similar emotions for five years! Constantly looking for something but not being able to find it. Remember something, but not be able to remember. And so day after day ... It's just incredible. That is why I so wanted to meet them, and was so happy when I saw her.

Moment of Sentimentality

As I have already noted, Shinkai managed to combine the features of traditional and modern Japan in an optimal way. This led me to a series of thoughts. If you don't want to read sentimental nonsense, just skip the next paragraph.

If you think about it, every day we are faced with a mixture of past, present and future, but in a hurry we do not pay attention to it. It is enough to look around and you will notice a lot of new things. Take a look at the newly built, trendy shopping mall, in the shadow of which one-story wooden houses lurk, in which people have been living for many years. Walk along the empty city streets and try to comprehend the fact that even ten, twenty, fifty years ago, the inhabitants of your city hurried along them, busy with their petty concerns. Think about the fact that many years ago, under the tree you pass by, people were sitting and talking peacefully. Sometimes we do not notice that the past, present and future are actually tightly connected by a thread of time, similar to the one that connected the main characters of Kimi no Na wa. This, by the way, is one of the many metaphors used by Shinkai.

Panache

One hundred and ten minutes of visual enjoyment. Amazing. Amazing. Incredible. When describing the drawing of Kimi no Na wa, I want to use only the strongest and most exalted epithets. Screenshots are not able to convey all the beauty of urban and rural landscapes, painted by the artists of the studio CoMix Wave Films. The greatness of drawing is fully revealed only in dynamics. The artists have outdone themselves. As with all Shinkai's other works, Kimi no Na wa great attention devoted to the skies, trains and boundless natural spaces. From time to time I paused the video just to take a closer look. the smallest details images, because the detail of the backgrounds is on the highest level, and the panoramas with their scale and beauty from the very first frames cause goosebumps all over the body. In addition, a colossal work was done with light and shadow, which made it possible to give the images an unprecedented depth and expressiveness. And that's assuming I was watching Kimi no Na wa in soapy 480p with half-screen watermarks. It's hard to even imagine what the image will be in FullHD or in cinemas!

Music

Where there is not enough expressiveness of the graphics (there are practically no such moments in Kimi no Na wa), the musical accompaniment comes to the rescue, which was also a success. The music for the anime was written and performed by a popular Japanese band. Radwimps, and, in my opinion, the musicians have fully coped with their task. Especially for the anime, they composed over twenty-two tracks, some of them with vocals. As in all other Sinkaev works, preference was given to lyrical instrumental music performed on piano, violin and guitar - a win-win for dramatic everyday life, allowing you to maximize the effect of emotional episodes. The combination of incredible visual and musical accompaniment made it possible to create amazing scenes, of which there are no less than five or six pieces in anime. I repeat - they must be seen and heard, it is simply impossible to convey all the beauty of Kimi no Na wa in words.

Ratings

Characters - 10.0. Simple, but very lively characters who want to empathize. The case when simplicity is perceived better than something complex.

The plot is 10.0. A delightful story with a Swiss watch structure, unexpected plot twists and a perfect ending.

Drawing - 10.0. You have to see it with your own eyes...

Music - 10.0. Magnificent musical accompaniment, multiplying the effect of emotional moments.

Conclusion

Makoto Shinkai has outdone himself. He created a creation in which every detail is perfect. A masterpiece of animation art that will leave a deep mark on history and serve as a much-needed boost to the anime industry, which Lately was in a state of stagnation. An anime that hits the strings of the soul in a big way and drives them into resonance. Two hours of enjoyment that you are unlikely to ever forget. Don't believe me, trust the ratings. Do not believe the ratings - believe yourself. Take a look at least to make up your own own opinion and I assure you, you won't be disappointed. Kimi no Na wa is one of best anime that I have ever seen in my life, and I have seen them oh how many. I recommend it to everyone without exception. But first, wait until the BluRay edition is released or shown in theaters (if that happens at all). All the best, and watch only the best!
