Brother Evgeny Martynov: “In a difficult moment, Zhenya was abandoned by everyone .... Evgeny Martynov

His mother Nina Trofimovna from June 1942 to September 1945 served in the evacuation hospitals of the 3rd Ukrainian Front, and met the wounded soldier Grigory Martynov in the hospital. She married him and married him, after which the newlyweds settled in the city of Kamyshin, where in love and harmony they raised two sons - Eugene and Yuri.

Yevgeny spent his childhood and youth in the Donbass. Evgeny's mother Nina Martynova later said: “Then we lived on the Volga, in the city of Kamyshin, and then moved to Artyomovsk. Little Zhenya was very painful, even in kindergarten did not go. At home, we always sang Russian and Ukrainian songs in two voices, my father played the button accordion, and so Zhenya spent all the children's matinees with him, spent all the holidays. And he loved music so much that we bought him an accordion. He, in fact, did not have a childhood: two schools - to eat, there was no time to take a walk. I remember the teacher Zhenin said: “I would like more such students, and not those who study music under pressure ...” And the truth is, I never forced either Zhenya or Yura to study. Then Zhenya entered the Kyiv Conservatory. But my father and I are invalids of the second group, from the war, and he had to transfer to us closer.

Yevgeny's father, Grigory Martynov, before being wounded, was the commander of a rifle platoon of the 333rd division, and after arriving in Artemovsk, he began working as a singing teacher in the Artyomovskaya high school and directed amateur art. He talked about Evgeny: “He loved our house in Artyomovsk, and it’s beautiful with us there ... He sent us telegrams from every city on tour, always with a return address, he was afraid of everything for my mother and me ... She saved them all : here is Ukraine, and Belarus, and the Urals, and Kamchatka ... "But it began musical career the future famous composer from my father's accordion, whose sound made Eugene leave his games and listen with delight to the music. The boy quickly memorized the melodies he heard, and later he sang and danced himself, tapping out the rhythms of the memorized songs. He also liked to recite poems and monologues heard in the club, cinema and on the radio. At school, Eugene showed a gift for drawing, then he became interested in tricks and willingly showed them at school concerts. Zhenya studied well, without much difficulty, but music gradually replaced other hobbies and passions, including football, which he loved to play since childhood. His father taught Yevgeny to play the button accordion, then the accordion, and when Yevgeny was 11 years old, his parents bought him his own professional accordion, and he enjoyed playing it in front of his classmates and neighbors. Thanks to his father and constant studies, Eugene received good professional skills in musical improvisation and mastered the basics of accompaniment techniques in different keys, which in the future allowed him to easily adapt to any singing and immediately play along with the singer even in cases where the material was unknown to him. After eight years, Evgeny Martynov entered Artyomovskoye School of Music to the conductor-wind department, where he showed a passion for composing, and he wrote a romance for clarinet and piano, a scherzo for clarinet and piano, and a prelude for piano.

After graduating from college, Eugene entered the Kyiv Tchaikovsky Conservatory, and completed his education at the Donetsk Musical and Pedagogical Institute. The first two songs-ballads were written by him to the verses of his classmates L. Zhidel and T. Kireeva - “The Ballad of the Komsomol Members of Donbass” and “The Song of the Motherland”. When Martynov studied at the conservatory as a professional clarinetist, someone said about him: "This is a gift of fate." So he received the student nickname "Gift" for his outstanding abilities.

After graduating for a year, Evgeny led the variety orchestra of the Donetsk All-Union Research Institute of Explosive Equipment, and in 1972 he came to Moscow with letter of recommendation Donetsk conductor to the popular pop singer Maya Kristalinskaya, who warmly welcomed the charming young man from Donbass. It was Maya Kristalinskaya, whose pop authority was very high, who sent the “well-singing composer” to the Rosconcert, having previously given Martynov the most flattering recommendation. The audition at the Rosconcert was successful, and they decided to test Evgeny as a soloist-vocalist in a national pop program, offering to work for a couple of months for free, which was usual for newcomers from the provinces. On his first tour of Siberia and Far East Yevgeny Martynov went in June 1972 with others rising stars Soviet stage: young Lev Leshchenko, Valentina Tolkunova, Svetlana Morgunova, Gennady Khazanov and the jazz ensemble Melodiya, just created by Vladimir Chizhik.

In 1973, he was enrolled in the staff of the Rosconcert, and fate immediately connected Evgeny with the Moscow poets Pavel Leonidov and David Usmanov, with whom he wrote his first songs in Moscow, which were added to the songs composed earlier in Donetsk - “Lullaby to Ashes” on verses by Marcinkyavichyus, "The Ballad of the Mother" to the verses of Dementiev, "Birch" to the verses of Yesenin and "The song has a name and patronymic" to the verses of Lisyansky.

In June 1973, Martynov won the title of laureate of the All-Union Competition of Performers Soviet song in Minsk, performing there the songs " Dark night”, “They are flying migratory birds"And his" Ballad of the Mother ", for the performance of which he received the audience award.

Very soon, the song "The Ballad of the Mother" was noted at the all-Union television festival "Song-74", and made the name of Yevgeny Martynov popularly known. Composer Oleg Ivanov said: “Like many, I was struck by Zhenya's first song. It was "The Ballad of a Mother", which in those years literally swept across the country. I was struck by the music, and the poems, and the passionate performance... And interestingly, a year before that, I was shown the poems by Andrey Dementiev, but I felt that I could not write a song on them. Poems seemed to be waiting for Martynov. Then we met him at the X World Festival of Youth and Students in Berlin. It was wonderful to sit next to Zhenya and listen to him sing. Just happiness. He combined both a composer, and a singer, and a musician who masterfully owns the piano: his instrument sounded bright, orchestral. A brilliant pianist, Martynov played claviers of any complexity from sight. Once he demonstrated a musical joke - he played a piece on an inverted clavier. Zhenya had a bright melodic talent. He never went to the middle peasants. For two or three years he became one of the most popular composers. His writings attracted the most famous performers. In the creative palette of the composer, two Slavic cultures: Zhenya, Russian, lived in Ukraine, which gave his melodies a special melody. His songs were beautiful with the beauty that comes from a generous solar land. And he sang them with such emotional devotion, as if for the first and last time, burned and gave this burning to people.

Despite a good start creative career, the personal life of Evgeny Martynov did not develop for a long time. Initially, he was forced to arrange a fictitious marriage in order to obtain a Moscow residence permit. Pianist Leonty Atalyan spoke about this: “At one time, Zhenya arranged a fictitious marriage in order to make himself a Moscow residence permit. We had a costume designer Alena Abrosimova. Good girl. She herself suggested to Zhenya: “Let's sign! What are you suffering from?" A lot of musicians did that back then. We worked from the Rosconcert. Our base was in Moscow. And when we came to Moscow, each time we had to think about where to spend the night. Zhenya often joked about this. “Leon, what station are you sleeping at today? - he asked loudly so that the director of the team could hear. “I'm on Kursk.” “You know, I prefer the Air Terminal on Leningradka,” I answered. "There's a good buffet."

In 1975, after performing the songs "Swan Fidelity" and "Apple Trees in Bloom", Yevgeny Martynov's popularity further strengthened, and in the same year he became the owner of the "Grand Prix" international festival pop song "Bratislava lira". Moreover, it should be noted that a performer from the USSR received an award at this competition for the first time.

Soon, Martynov's debut LP with three songs in the author's performance was released, and it broke all circulation records, being repeatedly re-released at the Melodiya Firm's record factories for almost two years. The poet Vladimir Kudryavtsev said: “Fate brought me together with Yevgeny in the early 70s in Moscow, at the apartment of the poet Andrei Dementyev ... I will never forget that evening. At home, Martynov's songs performed by him sounded especially confidential and very touching, full of drama and incredible sincerity. Andrei's wife Galina, perhaps listening to these confession songs more than once, could not stand it, burst into tears. Yes, and we, men, were excited and touched. And for a long time they were impressed by what they heard. And for Yevgeny, probably, the very homely atmosphere in the living room of the Dementiev family was special. He was drawn to the family flame. It turns out that he then, not having a Moscow residence permit and any housing, spent the night - at the Kursk railway station. He joked then: “My address is the left bench to the right of the policeman. Just don't tell this address to Andrey. I don't like being pitied. He will definitely offer me to live with them ... ”I stayed in Moscow for a few more days, and we lived with him in a hotel, in the same room. Yevgeny's sharpness, his humor and cheerfulness were captivating. He had many acquaintances in Moscow, and to the traditional question: “How is life?” - he invariably answered: "Than to live like this, it is better, God forbid, to die." – “Yes you that?! - not understanding the play on words, they told him. “You still have to live and live.”

Over the years of his composing and performing activities, Martynov was awarded many laureate titles and honorary diplomas. He was awarded in 1973 at the All-Union Competition of Soviet Song Performers in Minsk and the World Festival of Youth and Students in Berlin. In 1974, he was noted at the All-Union Television Festival of the Soviet Song "Young Voices". In 1975 he received an award for international competition pop songs"Bratislava Lira" in Czechoslovakia, and in 1976 - at the international competition of pop song performers "Golden Orpheus" in Bulgaria. In 1976, Martynov received an award at the Melodiya druzhiki interfestivals of pop songs in Kyiv, and in 1977 at the Dechinsky Anchor in Czechoslovakia. Unexpectedly for Martynov, foreign artists began to perform his songs. From the All-Union Agency for Copyrights began to receive notices about the performance of his songs in various parts of the world: in all socialist countries, in Finland, Spain, England, Canada, USA and Japan.

In 1978, Eugene married a Kiev woman named Evelina, in marriage with whom his son Sergei was born in 1984, who was so named after the composer Sergei Rachmaninov and the poet Sergei Yesenin.

In 1980, the composer was awarded the honorary title of laureate of the Lenin Komsomol Prize, from 1974 to 1990 Martynov was regularly recognized as the laureate of the all-Union television festivals "Song of the Year", and since 1984 he became a member of the Union of Composers. His colleague, composer Georgy Movsesyan said: “Yuri Gulyaev, Zhenya and I always met on joyful occasions, performed together. We were welcome guests among sailors, astronauts, and athletes. I am grateful to Zhenya for the fact that, unlike the "eat-alongs", he did not put an earring on his ear and always went on stage fit and elegant, respecting the audience. He wanted to relate to the song such as parents have to children. And he wrote the claviers of his songs with care, like a student for an exam, although he was both a specialist and a master. In general, he was conscientious to the point of stupefaction and treated work as something sacred, and not as a craft. Many of us rushed to another “religion”, he remained with his god ... ”The receipt of laureate titles was accompanied by the presentation special diplomas and prizes "For elegance", "For artistic charm" and "For telegenicity". This success with capital letter changed the atmosphere around the name of Yevgeny Martynov, but not Yevgeny himself.

Martynov's creative alliance with Andrey Dementiev turned out to be the most inspirational and fruitful. The commonwealth of Martynov - Dementyev led to the appearance of the songs " Father's house”,“ Natalie ”,“ Yesenin has a birthday ”,“ Forgive me ”and“ Swallows returned home ”. However, other famous songwriters willingly collaborated with Yevgeny Martynov - Robert Rozhdestvensky, Andrei Voznesensky, Ilya Reznik, Igor Shaferan, Mikhail Tanich, Leonid Derbenev, Nikolai Dobronravov, Rimma Kazakova and many other authors.

Martynov's songs sounded everywhere: “I'll give you the whole world”, “Nightingales sing, flood ...”, “Start over”, “Seagulls over the water”, “Merry umbrella”, “Song of my love”. After 1975, Martynov released 5 copyright minions with the title "Evgeny Martynov sings his songs." The copies of these minions were instantly sold out, and often the composer himself, who generously gave away records to fans, could not purchase them in stores. In 1979, his big record appeared on sale.

Martynov toured a lot with success in different countries world - USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Finland, India and Switzerland. Classmate Evgenia Martynova Professor T.I. Kireeva said: “Zhenya was an unusually cheerful, bright person. Both as a friend and as a musician he was amazing. He always radiated love and joy. He generously gave his sunshine each individually and all our student brethren. Never discouraged. When he came to the conservatory or the hostel, he always joked and laughed. Where Zhenya was, there was always fun, laughter and, of course, a song. We were amazed at his resourcefulness, he knew how to stir up anyone. He usually sat down at the piano, played, and then began to sing.

The fact that Yevgeny Martynov was very fond of joking was also confirmed by Leonty Atalyan: “Martynov kept his first fees - 400-500 rubles ... in swimming trunks, wrapped in a plastic bag. For him, it was wealth. Sometimes on trips, Zhenya took out fifty dollars and stolniks, sculpted them on the glass of the bus and had fun watching how people passing by reacted. He generally liked to joke.

Until 1990, which became his last, Yevgeny Martynov was one of the most popular and beloved authors and performers in the USSR. Yuri Martynov said: “Evgeny Martynov, in my opinion, is one of recent composers who was welcomed with open arms solely for their talent. “Maybe we really don’t understand something? Zhenya said. - I'm already tired of all this. My nerves can't stand it... And most importantly, I'm ashamed. It’s a shame to push around, almost defending the right of your creativity to a place on the air with your fists.

The poet Vladimir Kudryavtsev said: “Over time, Eugene came to me in Kyiv. It was blooming May, and suddenly it started raining mushrooms. And when it ended, we ... went to Hydropark. We stood on the banks of the Dnieper, and just at that time a rainbow blossomed. And Zhenya says to me: “Write about it. I even have a chorus." And he sang: "Marcephali, marcephali ..." This was his favorite word, the meaning of which he himself did not know. When I called him later, I said: “Hi, Marcephali!” However, on the same day, he was already humming the first lines of a song that had not yet been written:

"Give me for the sake of
Colors of grassy rainbows..."

We met with Evgeny many more times - in Moscow and in Kyiv. But this song is the only one left. I mean: the song is in Ukrainian... And now the last one. (We are talking about the song "Koliori kokhannya", in Russian - "Colors of Love"). He promised me to come to Yalta in October, where I moved permanently. And so..."

On September 3, 1990, at about 10 am, Yevgeny Martynov entered the 180th police station, with whom he had long supported friendly relations(repeatedly spoke to police officers, introduced him to his work). He was cheerful and cheerful. An hour later, citizens called the police and said that the lifeless body of a man was lying at the entrance. Police officers urgently went to the scene, and recognized the singer and composer Yevgeny Martynov in the lying dead man. As it became known, he was going home, and suddenly he felt bad with his heart. He sat down at the entrance on the steps, but the pain, apparently, did not let go. Passers-by tried to help him, an ambulance was called. But Martynov bled from his mouth, his face began to turn black, and soon he died suddenly. The cause of death was acute heart failure. The ambulance, which arrived 40 minutes later, was unable to help.

“I will give you the whole world” - this was the name of one of the songs of the composer Yevgeny Martynov, and this is how you can title all his work. For Yevgeny Martynov really gave his admirers the immense world of Beauty, Flight, Spring and Love, forever remaining in our memory as a symbol of light, fidelity and inspiration.

While sorting through the papers of Yevgeny Martynov, his brother Yuri found records that can be considered the creative testament of the musician. There are such lines: “I am close to the civil lyrics - the continuation of the traditions of the Soviet song. It is important to preserve all the best that was written by composers in this genre. We must continue the traditions, otherwise we will destroy our national Russian song culture. Now girls aged 14-17 have begun to dictate fashion. For them, the main thing is the dance rhythm. Hence the verses of the corresponding content. People have forgotten how to sing. And what is more important - entertainment in music or its educational value? The song has authors. Now the culture is nameless, unbridled, there is no responsibility for writing. Members of the Union of Composers are not respected. And professionals must be respected, we strived so hard to become them! A member of the creative union is almost the personification of stagnation, but the guy with the guitar is the foreman of perestroika! .. A song should unite people of all ages!”

About Yevgeny Martynov was filmed documentary"A swan song".

The author of such songs as “You tell me, cherry”, “Ballad about mother”, “Apple trees in bloom” Yevgeny Martynov died under mysterious circumstances at the age of 42. September 3, 1990 popular singer and the composer was found in the entrance of a house not his own in an unconscious state in a strange position.

The artist's brother, Yuri Martynov, still cannot come to terms with the death of Yevgeny. He tried to restore the events of the last day of Eugene's life.

“That day, he wanted to show the car to the mechanics so that he could take his father to the hospital later. Went to the garage. There he was told - no problem, bring two bubbles, we'll see. Zhenya gave them 25 rubles. They went to the store, although they didn't sell alcohol yet. I later met with one of them, so he told me - they all drank. But what happened then remains a mystery ... I dream about him all the time, Zhenya sings all the time, and then I write it down. She dreams that Zhenya is returning. And I tell him - let's think about how to explain where you have been all this time, ”says Yevgeny Martynov's brother.

Despite the fact that the walls of not only the entrance, but also the elevator were covered in blood, no investigation was carried out. The official version of Martynov's death is "heart failure". When they found the singer, they were in no hurry to call an ambulance, they decided that he was just drunk. The paramedics arrived only after 40 minutes and it was already too late.

A friend and co-author of Martynov, the poet Andrey Dementiev, believes that the death of the composer was natural, and the reason for so much unexpected departure is natural vulnerability. “He took everything very close to his heart,” Dementiev said in the First Channel film “Evgeny Martynov. Forgive me, my love..."

The peak of Martynov's popularity came in the 70s. He was a favorite composer and performer, earning huge money for those times both as a singer and as an author, receiving royalties. Lev Leshchenko recalls now that at the time when average salary was about 120 rubles, Martynov could receive up to 30 thousand royalties and other royalties per month.

“While the average salary was 120 rubles, these guys - Antonov, Martynov, Dobrynin received 30 thousand a month. They simply had nowhere to put their money, because it is taboo not to buy a car for more than one apartment. Well Zhenya was covered. The more popular it became, the more fake friends became, ”said Leshchenko.

Yevgeny Martynov drank, but few of his entourage could call him an alcoholic. According to friends and colleagues, the composer was a kind and naive person, he lent a lot and easily and could not refuse company and friendship to anyone.

Martynov was married only once. Did he meet the girl of his dreams? When he was already thirty, and she was only 17. They lived happily for only 12 years. Martynov's widow - Evelina still remembers last days next to her husband.

“March 19, 90th year we had a wedding day - 12 years life together. And it seems not a round date, but Zhenya came home with a huge bouquet of flowers and said: “And it will always be like this!”. I will never forget these words. And when he died, I was saved only by the fact that my son was only 6 years old. I had to live on ... ”- said Evelina Martynova.

Six years later, she remarried, and later left for Spain forever. Martynov's son - Sergey is engaged in business, is going to marry a Spaniard. But he is insanely proud of his father and knows all his songs by heart.

Doctors will confirm that the so-called acute heart failure is one of the most common causes sudden death. Often it is caused by previous diseases of the cardiovascular system. However, relatives of Yevgeny Martynov assured that he had never suffered from them.

In addition, shortly before his death, the singer returned from a tour, the organizers of which did not pay him a well-deserved fee. Moreover, at that time the amount was considerable - about 10 thousand rubles. Martynov filed a lawsuit against negligent businessmen. After the death of the performer, the case was immediately closed.

However, it should be noted that the causes of the notorious heart failure can be not only chronic heart disease, but also emotional overload. Martynov in last years was under constant stress. The fact is that in 1985 perestroika began in the country. Other songs sounded from receivers and tape recorders, and nobody needed Alyonushki and Swans, beloved by Yevgeny Martynov. The singer found himself on the sidelines of the musical community, his popularity plummeted. He deeply experienced the beginnings of a future oblivion. Maybe that's why the heart of 42-year-old Yevgeny Martynov failed.

Coming from a simple family, he managed to graduate with honors from the Musical Pedagogical Institute, where the teachers gave him the nickname "Gift" for his unique talent. A few years after graduation, he came to Moscow, having already become a real gift for millions Soviet people. His pure and bright lyrical songs sounded almost daily from all repeaters, giving listeners joy and faith in a brighter tomorrow.

Talented student Evgeny Martynov

On that fateful day Martynov I had to take my father to the clinic, meet with a lawyer, settle the issue of a business trip abroad. The artist did not feel well, but it was necessary to repair the Volga, which suddenly broke down so inopportunely. Martynov went to a taxi driver who had once helped him fix his car. Together with another motorist, he entered the elevator of one of the neighboring houses, where he became ill, and his companion, frightened, fled without even calling an ambulance.

DATA

There is a street in Artemovsk Evgenia Martynova, on a house in Kamyshin, where he was born - a memorial plaque; song festival is held Martynov.

If to criticize any song Eugene answered that the people liked it, it happened to him that they said: "The people must be educated." Yes, and often found fault with the lyrics. Back in 1975 Evgeny Martynov and Dementyev had to convince the editor-in-chief for a long time Central Television that the words “a swan could not fly to distant lands” have nothing to do with the emigration of Jews.

Death of Evgeny Martynov

Yevgeny Martynov died on September 3, 1990. The official version of death is acute heart failure. The singer felt bad in the elevator. Martynov could have been saved if qualified medical assistance had been provided to him in time.

However younger brother Yuri Martynov is sure that the death could have been violent. So, before his death, the singer led litigation with the people who cheated him on a large sum. These were the organizers of his tour of Ryazan region who did not pay Martynov a fee. With their firm, he signed an agreement and was sure that he would win the case. However, it turned out that the company was registered with shell people, and their documents were covered by recidivist fraudsters. The next court session was to be held on September 4, 1990, but the case was closed due to the death of the plaintiff.

After the death of Yevgeny Martynov, rumors circulated for a long time that he was beaten by criminals because of the trial. There is also a version that he was poisoned.

Brother Yury Martynov said: “They interrogated the grandmother who found her brother in the entrance, other residents. They established that Zhenya came to the entrance with two men. Later they said that Martynov gave them money for vodka and they drank with him. There are many questions, but no one bothered to ask them. What exactly did they drink? Is it all from the same bottle? According to the men, when they entered the entrance, my brother felt bad and he fell in the elevator. And why did they leave him and run away? Why did Zhenya and Zhenya enter the elevator alone a man, and the other remained below? Further - the most crime. The police arrived and began to bring Zhenya to his senses - slapping his cheeks and letting him smell ammonia. A certain doctor from the children's hospital located opposite came and gave his brother an injection. After that, he died. As they said at the Sklifosovsky Institute, Yevgeny was found in his mouth a large number of ammonia. But ammonia is not drunk. To bring a person to their senses, a moistened cotton wool is enough. And Zhenya's clothes smelled of that alcohol. But this fact has not been investigated. The cause of death was declared to be heart failure.

The brother of the deceased himself believes that Yevgeny Martynov died from poisoning: “My wife became ill due to poisoning. Either the vodka was “singed”, or something was poured on him to “knock out” and rob. When the police arrived, the brother was breathing , it was not necessary to touch him. And they began to "help" him. It seems that ammonia was not just allowed to be smelled, but literally poured into it. But this drug, once on the mucous membrane, immediately causes swelling, and a person cannot inhale. "

In memory of Yevgeny Martynov in the city of Artemovsk (Bakhmut), a house of culture (formerly the Lenin Palace of Culture) was named after him. In 1992, one of the streets of Artyomovsk was named after Yevgeny Martynov.

On the initiative of cultural figures and friends of the artist in Moscow in 1993, the Moscow cultural society Evgeny Martynov Club was established, which is engaged in cultural and charitable activities, promoting the creative heritage of the remarkable composer and singer.

In 1993 he became an honorary citizen of the city of Kamyshin.

Personal life of Evgeny Martynov:

Was married. Had a son.

Martynov married late - at the age of 30. As his colleagues said, he had many admirers, but was very shy in relationships with women. When other singers after concerts parted ways with the girls hotel rooms, Martynov always returned to his place alone.

Wife - Evelina (Ella) Konstantinovna Starenchenko (married - Martynova), born in 1959, originally from Kyiv. At the time of their acquaintance, Evelina was 17 years old (he called her "deer"). The wedding was held on a grand scale in the Prague restaurant in Moscow. Surrounded by the singer, it was rumored that Evelina got married by calculation, but Martynov himself was happy with his young wife.

On July 23, 1984, the couple had a son, Sergei. It was named after composer Sergei Rachmaninov and poet Sergei Yesenin. Sergei Martynov is very similar to his father. Sergei was only six years old when Martynov died.

According to Evelina, the death of the singer was a strong blow for her and for several years she could not believe what had happened.

However brother the deceased - Yuri Martynov - stated otherwise in an interview: “There was another twofold situation - shortly after the death of Evgeny, Ella asked me to help her have an abortion. I was tormented by doubts for a long time: from whom is the child? the right people. And a month later she was already with another dude, with whom she now lives in Spain."

Evelina married a second time, moved to live in Spain, lives with her husband and son Sergei in the seaside city of Alicante.
